I'll second that.  14 years ago I bought a Boxster as my fair weather car.  This winter I traded it in on 
a used 2000 Boxster S ($16K).  I also have another toy for when the mood strikes.  The S6 does winter 
duty as well as long trips.  All in all my car $$ out the door haven't been too bad.

That's exactly what I've done- boring Volvo for everyday use, but
entertaining cars in the garage for nice weather.
