It's next to the battery IIRC. So the locking system all works fine, and
the system THINKS it is pairing properly? If it's beeping when you perform
the magic ritual then obviously it can hear them so its not dead entirely.
Are you sure you have the right virgin sacrifice process?
Might be worth disconnecting the alarm/remote module and leaving it
powerless for a nice long while to get a really good reset, then try the
pairing procedure again. That's what I'd do before giving up and going for
a swap... Those modules are known for "getting confused" sometimes and
liking a nice power-down rest to reset themselves. Actually my car doesn't
like the remotes to work if I haven't started it in a long time - apparently
it has a little fit and I need to manually unlock it and drive it a bit and
then it calms down and forgives me. Weird but I've grown accustomed to it.
BTW a lot of owners seem to be going w/ the RightClick aftermarket
remote/alarm system as a replacement and seem quite happy. There's a whole
DIY thing on the QW FAQ IIRC YMMV FTW WTF and other acronyms.
