Eric,

I'm not qualified to comment on whether or not porting and polishing on your set
up will
make a huge difference. But I would suggest that if you are going to pull the
head to do all
that work it's also a good time to upgrade the connecting rods, replace bearings
and re-ring pistons etc.

I mean, there's the slope I'll gladly give ya a push! ;-)

Subject: [s-cars] Want to do some head work.

Boyz,

After slowly gathering my parts and pieces, I am nearly ready to put
on my RS2 stuff.

But before I do, I want to do stuff like replace the valve stem seals
and guides, possibly the lifters, and other stuff "while I'm there" -
stuff like timing belt, water pump - all the really great stuff that
will need to be done anyway, but might as well do it all at once.

I have heard that folks sometimes port and polish the head to get that
extra few percent, and I'm wondering if it is worth it for just an RS2
build, or just stick with refreshing the head and skipping the machine
work. I also have heard that giving the valves and seats a fresh
lapping helps keep things nice and tight.

Peanut gallery comments aside, give me the straight poop on porting -
worth the money (plus shipping) or not? Lapping/grinding valves and
seats?

If so, I need to know of a shop that can do the stuff with the care
required - no hack-jobs wanted. Careful work done by experienced
professionals.

Thanks,

Eric
