have had many of these repaired (my own included) at local exhaust shops here in
kc for $125~$150

cut out and weld in new flex section with pipe on car...look for an independent
local exhaust shop as opposed to a nation wide chain with large franchise fees
to cover..............HTH...............m

Subject: [s-cars] A4 - Exhaust Leak

Gents,

The victim is my 2001 A4 2.8 that I have let my daughter destroy.  She has done
a pretty good job.  There are only a few panels that would not need dent and new
paint repairs, but hey, I don't drive it. The problem is that there is an
exhaust leak near the passenger-side cat.  It looks like the flex connection has
pulled out by 1/4 inch.  One shop I spoke to would weld it for $800.  Another
highly recommended shop said $400 to weld but it probably would last and a lot
of other crap would be broken getting it out.  They also said new from dealer is
about $1K plus install.  I was thinking what would happen if I mixed up a BIG
batch of JB Weld and lathered it around the flex connection?  Any been there
done that?

Thanks,

Mark near Chicago
