I disagree with the assessment that the transmissions are a disaster waiting
to happen. Change the "lifetime" fluid every 50k and you
won't have issues with the transmission. IPD makes a convenient kit for
that, including a long funnel that you'll need to refill the trans.

The AWD system is not great and that does break more often than it should.
One thing that you should never do- full throttle application while turning
full lock.

A lot of these cars are under-maintained, that's the main cause of problems-
most people will never spring for synthetic oil, for example.

Swedespeed is a good resource- of course you have to filter the noise, but
lots of good info.
