Eric,

Swing on over to www.swedishbricks.net and join the mailing list. Pretty 
good signal to noise ratio, although the group can get a bit chatty at 
times. :)

You'll find some expertise on the AWD systems and the P2 Volvos. Later 
is generally better, with the 2003 models offering enhanced systems. 
Early ones ('98, '99) should be avoided. Wagons are more difficult to 
find than sedans, and AWD wagons are somewhat rare on the 
market...unless the owner doesn't know what they have...and if that's 
the case, the maintenance has probably been skipped. On the other hand, 
some Volvo owners just get tired of their cars and you can find some 
great deals...

By the way, for the same money that you'll put into a 10 year old Volvo, 
you can find a good clean C4 or C5 A6 avant. And as you know the Audis, 
you'll have no learning curve. Again, if you have some time to look, you 
may find a very good deal.
