Jim,
I just ordered a 6-pack of 1.8t filters from autohausaz.com. I wouldn't recommend ordering from germanfilters.com. I ordered from them first. My credit card was charged and I received confirmation for the order. That was it. After hearing nothing for 2 weeks, I tried emailing them twice and calling 5 or 6 times to no avail. I finally had to contact my credit card company, which gave me a refund and is looking into the matter. Perhaps some website problems or something? Whatever the case, it's not worth the trouble.
As far as the part number is concerned, just pick a car that used that motor, like the 99 A4 and order that filter. There will be an option of the old and new style. You want the new style, which is the bigger filter. The filters I got are Mann also. AFAIK, the media in the filter isn't better, just bigger. Also, the larger filter ups the system volume a bit.

Hey all,
I was cleaning out some boxes in the garage and came across this little
gem. The Phatnoise/Phatbox is an MP3 player that VW/Audi made available for
a short time. Made by Kenwood, and also sold as "Music Keg", it
is essentially an MP3 player controlled by the stock head unit. I beleive
Concert series head units and newer, but don't quote me on that. (you
should do the research) This unit came with my 95.5 S6A as a loose item in
the cargo area and was never installed. I have the unit, cable, download
dock for use with your PC, and one cartridge of unknown storage capacity (up
to 40GB were available I think).
Since this item does not work with the stock head unit in the 95.5S6A, I
never pursued it's use. I added a jack for the ipod via the CD changer and
never saw the need to add the Phatbox although the head unit controls and
track read-out informatino would be cool.
I do not have a means to test this item, and do not know if it actually
works, so I don't think it's fair to charge a fellow lister for it. I would
ask any interested party to pay for the shipping, and that's it.
You want it? Say the word, and I'll send it on.
Ron

Hey all,
I've got several original urS4 5-spoke 16x8 rims I use for winter use. These wheels are notorious for clearcoat peeling/cracking and then oxidation. I'd really like to refinish them myself if at all possible to an average quality standard, as they are still winter wheels after all. Most still have tires on them and would rather not dismount/remount. My question is, how to remove the rest of the clearcoat, the oxidation, then what to repaint with? Any BTDT? Once again, don't need perfection, I just hate the broken up oxidized look in the winter. Links to wheel refinishing articles welcome! Thanks!
Best regards,
Jim Fleischer

Hey guys,
Ordering up some new oil filters online today and wondering what is the filter of choice for the AAN these days. I seem to remember the larger filter for the 1.8l turbo motor being preferred? Last time I ordered from GermanFilters.com I got the stock ones and just used the last one over the summer. Any help with part #'s, applications, etc. much appreciated. Thanks!
Best regards,
Jim Fleischer
