Paging Scott J, here's somebody else for you to go off on!
On a serious note, welding wheels is not a very good idea. Yeah it can
work, but it has serious flaws. The metal surrounding the fix will be
very very hard and therefore very very brittle. Damned good chance it
will crack again soon and when it does it will be a larger, wider
crack that dumps all of the air out rapidly.
