[s-cars] motor mounts

IME with these Cody, the snub mount missing is more likely the issue with your 5ktq. The engine wants to come up in front first, and the only thing holding it is the PS MM. You are better off with the trapped construction of the Mustang/GM trans mounts. When those fail, the interlocking metal straps keep them from allowing the engine to move thru hood, btdt. Or, you get more creative on the snub mount... In the 400+hp ex-Jerritts 5ktq, the front crossmember was replaced with seam welded doubled-up square tubing. This allowed 2 Spearco Buick Grand National radiators to land in front of the engine, and the snub mount stayed. Or you can add the urs4/C4 lower crossmember and bottom snub mount design, btdt2
500hp without a snub mount? That sounds like a hood waiting to be forced off the car without the aid of wrenches (tm-pizzo)
Cheers

You don't think that using launch control to build 1.0-1.2bar of boost at
5,0000rpm then letting go of the clutch has an effect on that motor mount? How
about if I add that the intercooler size forced me to remove the snub mount
entirely?
I'm not saying the heat doesn't get to it, I know it does, but I know [from the
out-dent in the hood] that that engine tries pretty damned hard to twist itself
out of the engine bay. FWIW the factory engine mount heat shield and cooling
duct are in place and I typically wrap the mounts in heat reflecting tape, but I
can't recall if I did it to the current one or not.
