About the interior space...

I saw last summer a early 996 with 4x 18 in wheels and tires inside the car... The pilot removed the passenger seat, but that was
it. He even changed its wheels himself, on a gravel paddock, with a floor jack and a x-bar. Exactly like us ! 

BTW, the RX-8 R3 is a proper track car usable on the street. You need a thick wallet on the track though... 35 l/100km or 8 mpg.

968 TURBO?  Sign me up!  ;-)
My toy car is a Z06.  Spec Miatas are fun, as well... Less so on the street.  
But if you want the German, I feel right at home every time I drive it, Porsche is hard to beat.  951 and 986 are easier to drive
past the limits than a Boxster, but the Boxster is newer, handles better, and still is easy to drive at the limits for someone
experienced in car control.  EVO was mentioned... Great cars, faster than the Porsches mentioned, but not as good feeling... And you
have to get over the Japanese styling and interior.  Still, great cars and under appreciated.  It sounds like jumping into a 996/997
is really where you want to be.  And the rear seats (good for a briefcase or children under 5) could be your excuse.  ;-)
