Often it is and seems the early S cars are. On my bimmer the alternator is LH thread like that. But on some cars its not. And is not on the later UrS cars. I could mail you the nut from mine, I have it lying around somewhere... Trust me. RH. When mine was frozen I killed myself trying it both ways wondering if I was tightening or loozening. Great topic of debate since anybody who's done it is convinced they all are like his... But seems there was a changeover at some point.
