I would vote no. Unless there is a specific problem I wouldn't change any.
They are an extremely simple device - merely a bunch of copper wire wound
around a metal shaft. The only failure modes are a broken coil of wire
(which would nearly always show as an open circuit fault code) or a physical
clog in the air flow part of the valve. Theoreitically the coil can break
and in the process burn the insulation coating off a nearby winding and
short to it causing the valve to be weak, but in practice I don't think this
happens often.

I was wondering if it is ever necessary to change out the various solenoid
valves in the AAN engine, such as n80, n249, PVC valve etc, even if no codes
come up on vagcom. Do they have a lifespan and be prophalactically changed
out. My car has 166000 miles on it with a recent engine rebuild.
