I can't say for sure, Eric, but it does look like the shareware  
version does support that function.  All the diagnostic functions  
except the quick and easy clearing of codes can be done on the
climate control head by reading the faults directly on the control head.

I saw the original posts about this mod but didn't follow it because I  
had no interest in doing it to my car.  I also use the full featured  
version of VCDS, so the ebay 2X2 adapter is the only knock-off cable  
that I use.  I believe the code is changed by accessing module 8 for  
HVAC and changing the code in the c/c adaptation channel 7.
