What's the difference in elevation between the two locations? Is he an alien? Do forks stick to his chest inexplicably?

The engine starts and runs great from a cold start and will go
essentially forever or so it seems. Until, that is, I pick up one
particular friend and then (maybe 500 yards later) the GD engine cuts
out for 3 or 4 revolutions. Then it fires right up again - usually
without requiring the starter. Later in that same trip it might or
might not do it again. I then take my friend home and drive on home
with absolutly no further problems. It seems only to happen when I
have this one passenger. And no others. <Quizzical
expression> <????> Gremlins?
