You have to get the N54 twin turbo engine to get over 400hp, so that limits
you to '07-09. Manual transmission 535xi Tourings are super-rare, BTW- I've
seen maybe 5 for sale in the last 1.5 yrs., nationally.

N55 single turbo engines will not get to 400hp without a turbo swap.

HPFP is a known issue, BMW warrants it to 100k but still has problems with
it.

Lots more electrical issues with the E61- active roll bars go bad, iDrive
issues, etc. There are a million freaking electronic modules in those cars.
