Teddy,
Most likely a plastic tab has broken inside the outer part of the switch.. It is kind of a crazy construction / assembly (butofcourse).
First inspect the floor below the switch for any small broken plastic piece/s. You may need these to glue back in place.
You have to remove the plastic panel on the side of the seat which is intuitive enough. There is at least one secret screw (in the front IIRC), but don't just yank the whole thing off.
Take a look at the outer switch (the part you press forward or backward). There is a tab in the front and one rear that can be pressed back with a small screw driver to remove the outer switch.
Watch for falling broken off plastic bits, you may want this/these. There is suppose to be a sort of washer on the inside to hold everything in place and that may have broken... or, one of the aforementioned tabs could be broken. Sorry, I just can't remember. I do know that if one of the tabs is broken you can epoxy it back by putting some cotton in behind the part to hold it in place and then add epoxy to the cotton and the part but leave the area that has to click the switch in place free of glue... d'uh.
In the spirit of Bentley... It's pretty easy to take all apart and I'm sure you'll figure it out.
I would investigate first to see if anything can be epoxied and then look on ebay for something like this.. You probably only need the outer switch or some transferable part from something like this:

Good luck!
