Tom,

For the S6, Bentley is showing the brakes for the Euro version. Here in NA,
we got what is known as Girling G60 calipers - not a bad caliper but would
recommend upgrading to a Porsche monoblock option. Lots of online parts
sources.

Subject: [s-cars] S6 v. A6 front brake calipers

Folks: On Sunday I sat down with my new Bentley service manual to read
about servicing the brakes on my '95 S6. After reading the sections, I
removed the front wheels to get a good look at things and make some notes.
To my suprise the front calipers and pads on my car are completely different
than those described in the service manual for the S6 (rears are a match).
After much head scratching I turned to the section of the service manual
that describes the brakes on the
'95 A6, and there they are. As a cross-check I looked up brake pads for my
car on AutohausAZ and they seem to show pads that will fit my calipers (2
pads per wheel), but not for the calipers shown in the service manual (4
pads per wheel). What gives? Is the service manual wrong, or did Audi fit
the American S6 with the same calipers as the A6? Attached are a couple of
photos of my right front brake caliper and a pdf of the drawings in the
service manual for the S6 and the A6.
Sorry if this question has already been covered by this group, as I
neglected to look at the FAQs before typing this message. Thanks,

Tom
