[s-cars] Where is this oil leak coming from

You might have pinched the front of the gasket behind the cam pulley.  It's not hard to do as you have to angle the cover/gasket in there anyway.  Also, the cam seal behind the pulley can spring a leak, but it would weep before becoming as noticeable as you make it sound.  The VC gasket not being seated correctly would cause the leak you are describing.
