Thomas-
Best place to get them is ECS Tuning. Yes, they can be weird at times, but when I ordered the strips from them they came in good time, and were oem.
The job itself is Caveman level of difficulty.
Just pull out the old strips in the same direction the door runs. They run on 1 inch plastic retaining clips similar to old slot car tracks, so if you yank them out , you will break the clips which are special order.
If there's lots of corrosion , get some PB Blaster under the door strips from the inside of the door area.
When putting in the new ones, a little dab of wd40 helps it slide in easier.
Also, its accurate pricing on the front trim. One side cost more than the other due to less available units from Audi. They are going to be NLA very soon.
If ECS is out, Flynn Audi in Pittsfield Mass has them as well.
HTH,
Mike

Subject: [s-cars] Rubber strips on bottom of doors. Replacement?
Guys, I'm cleaning up the S6 and I have - due to the car's provenance from
New England and the salted roads - some rusting and peeling of the rubber
strips that go along the bottom of the doors. Car is a 96 S6 Avant.
I'm wondering what the list thinks in regards to:
1. Sourcing the appropriate parts
2. DIY replacement.
This project doesn't seem like it should be too tough, at least easier than
a timing belt, so I'm pretty confident that I can do it right with a bit of
been there-done that advice.
Thanks in advance!
