Keith,

Pay attention to the hoses when you install the new pump. Look at the leaking pump to work out which side of the pump is leaking, the hoses are pulling on the nylon part in a direction away from that leak and stressing the plastic joint. When I first had this leak I replaced it with a new pump that leaked again a year later. For the second replacement, I adjusted the way the pump sits in its rubber mount so that the hose did not pull on the pump and it has not leaked again after several years. With only one sample, I cannot be sure that this is indeed the cause of the problem but it is my educated engineer's guess.
