Paul,
Another idea and I have no affiliation, but I'm not sure if you have an
Advance Auto Parts around the NE but you can order a Bosch direct fit
(13957) from there and the original price is $61.99. Enter CCABIN in the
promo code box before checkout and it'll take $20 off your order. Ground
shipping to me in NC looks to be $8.66 so at $50.65, it's a pretty good deal
for one you just plug and play. I actually ordered $75 worth of stuff and
got free shipping on my order. There are more coupons for advance if you do
a google search but I know this one works.
I have used the universal (13913) before and it worked fine but really
enjoyed the convenience of just plugging it up.
BTW, I would suspect that maybe a wire got shorted somewhere when your
recent work was done but Wylie is right, its overdue for a sensor. It's a
pretty easy procedure but get yourself a sensor wrench if you're doing it
yourself.
Paul,
This is the part you need...
Bosch 15735
It is a universal with splice kit. Amazon has them for $40.

Subject: [s-cars] Code 2342
List-
As mentioned before, my car just got back from a butt load of work
at the shop. I know in the course of this work, the exhaust was removed
(clutch was replaced), as well as both front axles, fwiw.
Anyway, now, every now and then, the check engine light come on when
I'm just tooling along. Usually within the first few minutes of driving,
and only stays on for a few minutes, then goes out again. So I pulled codes
today and I got:
2342
Heated Oxygen Sensor
Defective Sensor or Wiring to sensor defective Resistance Heater in probe
faulty
Symptom: Emissions not within specifications
Now, here is the question: Is it just time to replace the O2 sensor,
or is it suspicious that it happen right after the shop just had everything
apart and now there is a bad connection? I have no idea of the age of the
O2 sensor, I have never replaced it, and I've had the car since ~115K miles
(187K now).
Thanks.
