My original pump failed at 181k miles. I replaced it with a VDO because it
had the same terminals as the stock pump and because VDO has a good overall
reputation, but it failed 14 months and 11k miles later (just 2 months out
of warranty!) Also, instead of failing dead, it still ran, but didn't build
enough pressure to fire the injectors.

This time I replaced it with a Bosch pump which did require cutting off the
ring terminals and crimping on push on connectors. The polarity of the
terminals on the Bosch pump was not well marked and given a 50/50 chance I
got it backwards. Rather than dive into the tank *again* I just swapped the
two wires in the wiring harness in the trunk. Still good 2 years and 18k
miles later. I expect it will be the last fuel pump I buy for this car!
