Jeez. I don't know why this was necessary:
"DaveF and I have differing views on this, I think he's laughably moronic
to go in via the 3rd row. He thinks I'm so stupid as to be a hazard to
myself and others for wanting to go in from the 'front'".
Wow. I don't recall condemning accessing the fuel pump from the avant back seat. EVAR.
Maybe I did but that must have been a long while ago. I have participated in installing
a fuel pump in a B5 A4 avant (not mine) at the side of the road and accessing the fuel
pump from the back seat (folded down) was relatively easy (after removing the various
carpet hold downs on the seat). Lots of cool mountain breezes to deal with the vapours.
In the sedan there is no option. However, the updated versions of my fuel pump replacement
post do shows that you can make it easier by opening up the spare well, removing the spare
and working from the spare well.
Here is a link to that laughably moronic G6 Fuel Pump Information post (note links to Anatomy of a
Fuel Pump which compares VDO/Siemens to Bosch):

JC you got a lot of 'splaining to do.
