[s-cars] UrS4 Avant bump stops

First thing is get ready for sticker shock, Duncan. The front boots
are common with the 100 and A6
suspension parts, but the front bump stops are unique to the UrS4/6
vehicles. All the discount Audi
dealers, i.e., genuineaudiparts.com list them for around $36 ea.
The boots are available there around
$12 IIRC, or Febi or Meyle aftermarket items are ~$8. Tim LeClair at
FAP99com or germanautoparts.com
have the boots, but only germanautoparts lists the bump stop. You
may have to look at A6 quattro parts to
find the listing for the boots but caution, the bump stops are not the
same.

front bump stop: 445 412 131

The rear boot is a hard plastic sleeve so it is pretty robust.
However, I do not believe the bump stop comes
separately, just as a part of the boot, 441 512 129 for the standard
suspensions in the US. My rear stops
were pretty well chewed up by the time I changed them at 120K miles.
Although the 441 512 131 part #
clearly shows on the stop, I had to buy the boot with it installed.

Your questions prompted me to look again at the offerings on ebay and
rockauto.com. The KYB listing
does not show parts specific to the UrS4 or 6. I can't feel confident
about buying something that they can't
even show a correct photo for since the bellows shown could not
possibly fit and the bump stop is too small.
Same with the stuff on rockauto. While it may be possible to find a
proper bump stop that does not cost $36,
it would take an expert suspension person to match the fit and the
proper density of material. You may find
european prices better if shipping works out.

I hope this rambling has been of some use.
