Chances are the e-brake cables are now long tubes of rust as well. Getting to where they attach to the bottom of the e-brake handle is one of the bigger joys of urS ownership. It's possible without actually removing a section of the exhaust, but barely. Be aware that they are slightly different lengths, too, so try to do one at a time, and match length as you replace.
