I suspect those tools would be great for the constant torque wire spring
clamps (http://www.impalas.com/images/T/HHC001_big.jpg), but I think Jim was
referring to the Oetinger style one shot squeeze clamps similar to:

They make special pliers for dealing with those, such as these:
