Yep, thanks for keeping me honest Peter. Stocks were actually Fuchs, not
Ronals as I misstated.

Stott:

Did you mean to say Fuchs instead of Ronals?

So running the 16X8 OEM 5 spokes as snows w/the 993TT gear, during the
winter probably isn't such a good idea because of the tight clearance!
If I P/U a slight rock from the "gravel" Oregon throws onto the roads I'll
get something stuck in there!

I've got a pair of really good 16" snows on the 6 spoke Avus wheels that
came from Colorado, that might have another couple seasons on them.
Guess I'll throw the 993TT gear onto the cashmere S6A and see what it looks
like, with both the 5 and 6 spokes?

I have that combination of rotor/caliper under Avus 16 x 7.5 (six spoke)
wheels for the winter. It's frighteningly close radially (rim barrel/caliper
body...about a couple of credit card thickness' clearance) but it does work,
however I am using ECS brackets instead of BIRA. So, your results may vary,
but it's possible.

Hap,

Do you know if the 993TT rotor and caliper fits under the 16" 5 spoke

wheels. Think they are they OEM S4 wheels Think it's the same setup I

bought from you like years ago.

Think I saw a guy at a Quattrofest from Seattle a couple years ago

that was running this?

I had them on my Red S6A with 18s predecessor, to my Cashmere S6A...

Hey Lee

Right after I bought Da Wintah Beatah about 6 years ago, I wanted to

do a brake upgrade. It had the TT upgrade already installed which uses

the carrier from a TT to allow mounting a larger front rotor which in

my case were ECS 312x25 as sown in the first pic. In my search I

stumbled across a local guy I knew who was selling a BIRA set up with

Boxster S calipers, brackets, 314x30 rotors and several sets of pads

including Pagid Black and Orange. I bought everything for $400 and

sold the rotors for $200. I ended up with the 2nd pic. After a couple

of track days I wanted to do another little upgrade so I went with JHM

2 piece rotors for the front sand the back which increased my rotor

size to 322x30 and 300x22. I use the same BIRA brackets but Dave Jones

just shimmed them out a little. The set up now is very good and I've

never had an overheating issue at the track. I'd love the look of some

6 pot calipers up front and 4 pots in the back but all in all this is

a great compromise as I still run 17" rims. Here's a link to ECS and

some

upgrade options for your buddy's VW:

You can also select the other options on the left panel for more goodies.

Anybody know what caliper and rotor matches the S1-A4 BIRA design?

I have a pair of these brackets and am wondering...

It looks like they will work with Boxster S calipers and a 314 x 30

rotor,

perhaps even a 322.

Also, can anyone confirm which rotor goes with the S2-A4 system?

Boxster S

caliper.

And finally, a friend just bought a MKV GTI and want to upgrade brakes.

Any BTDT?

Thanks,

Lee
