Ok, I'll try this again from something with a real keyboard. New OEM clips
from the dealer are inexpensive, but poorly fitting and will require some
fine filing to make them fit/grip and stay. And they are going into a blind
hole, so you can't help force it into place from behind.
A different approach is to take a small, closed eyelet/eye bolt with machine
threads (similar to what you might have used to hold a screen door closed 20
years ago), drill a small hole through the upper core support and bolt the
eyelet in place. The metal eyelet should last until you decide to replace
the car, and not break and leave you unable to get the hood open.

One of the retainers for my hood release cable (holds the cable against the
upper radiator support) has started to fail. I've temporarily rigged some
cable ties to hold it, but looking to see if there are some more elegant
solutions out there...
