[s-cars] Out of town buyer.

Depends... If a car deal is contingent on the test drive, Buyer needs to prove that he has insurance. If the car deal is contingent on a test drive (local craigslist thing), then you only need to be in the car during the test drive, as your (Seller) insurance will cover that. I find this part of the discussion to be silly myself. Test drives are not a grey area to an insurance company. If there is insurance on the car, the car is insured.

I'm talking about the test drive. The potential buyer does not have an
insurance binder for that.

insurance on the vehicle, I could care less if he drives the car. Why would I
care? Private Party Sales means you should not try to be smarter than the risk
presented to you. Me, I encourage PP Sellers to keep the insurance coverage
active for a week after the sale. That has less risk than asking and knowing a
Buyer has no license. It is NOT required by law that a car Buyer in any state
has a license. Period.
