[s-cars] Rear Brake Caliper ????

It appears that quite a few of you have replaced the brake cables recently.
I need to do that on one of mine. Without the cable, the internal spring
can return the cam to the rest position, but with the cable attached, the
arm doesn't really want to move unless you put a LOT of force on the
handbrake lever.
So - do I need to drop the exhaust and prop shaft, or is it possible (with
chunky 50-year-old fingers) to replace the cables with the exhaust and
propshaft in position?
