[s-cars] Bilstein shocks: "HD" or "Sport" with stock springs?

I put Bilstein HDs on my '95 S6 with stock suspension a few years ago.  It
seemed like it took them a couple months to break in.  For the first few
weeks, the ride was punishing-firm.  I was regretting the Bilsteins and
wondered if I should have gotten adjustable Konis.  However, then the
Bilsteins seemed to break in.  The ride is still firmer than stock, but no
longer punishing.
