I have a 2001 Allroad with the manual. Other than front axles I think the
the only thing I have had to do with it is related to the suspension.
Arnott does have a coil spring replacement kit for those who want to go
boring and conventional. So far I am still willing to deal with the quirky
suspension. I haven't had to touch the front yet, but I did put in
Bilsteins when I did the back. That helped squat a lot. Mine has an APR
chip that a previous owner bought. Over 300 ft-lbs of torque by 2000 rpm
is very nice. I don't know that I would trust this chip on an automatic
however.

It took me about a year to find the manual, but eventually found it only 2
hours away. I don't get to drive it much anymore since my wife took it to
serve as the primary kid hauler. It is a bit soft, but still a very nice
car.

My wife has had an '01 Allroad w/slushbox for the past 9 years now - she/we have put on about 125K out of total 155K and have replaced all kinds of things including the air bags (now all four are Arnot), coil packs, all of the front-end suspension bushings/control arms, and most heinously the transmission at about 120K. Almost $6K to get that sucker sorted out after the torque converter failed (commonly known to all but me), which then failed the oil pump, etc. We are still campaigning it though as it seems to be somewhat deer resistant, hauls a load of crap around, and even in its bone stock configuration is a comfy and reasonably well performing car (including crossing the Cascades to our Sisters, OR house all year round). Not worth enough to sell, too nice to not keep plugging the leaks!

Cheers,

Randy mit two of the last (perhaps only???) 95.5 S6 Avants in Orygun...only one of which is currently road worthy.
