Hap-
Thanks for weighing in on this topic. Unfortunately, my love of driving is
intimately tied to the clutch and the stick method of controlling the car's
locomotion. It really is non-negotiable for me. Which means I'd better
start stock-piling some cars for the future driving, because I see the
writing really is on the wall for that kind of tranny in automobiles. If I
pick up one of these Allroads, it will in all likelihood be my last Audi.
But I'd give up the wagon idea, the AWD, the engine with some flare to it,
the German engineering and more if that's what it took to keep the stick
and clutch. Audi USA has thrown me and those like me out of the fold. But
I'm glad the newer stuff works for some.
Right now I'm weighing the choice between a very nice 6-speed Allroad which
is mostly all sorted out at the moment, 2003, 114k miles; and a very new
2012 or 2013 TDI Jetta wagon 6-speed. Leaning Allroad. Maybe go the Jetta
route next time.
Still don't know what I can expect to get from insurance on Bill's S6.
Keith
