[s-cars] 200Q20V - hard start issues

WOW, that's a lot of info. thank you so much!

i've attached a pdf of 034's dyno tune of the car.

i do have 034 silicon breather hoses on the car. i might by a new FPR. when i replaced mine with the freebie, the car was fine again... but is now doing it's BS again. the FPR i got had a lot of miles on it. so, i'll try a new one before pulling the pump an check valve.

honestly, i'm at a crossroads with the car. i barely drive it, and i take the bus to work in the bay area. heck, i barely drive my daily driver 2008 jetta (my wife does though as her 97 audi A4 has 237,000 on the clock).

the 20V still needs paint (currently faded lago, gonna paint it oceanic). i've been talking about doing this for years. it's not the money, it's the hassle of stripping the trim and dealing with schmucks at the body shop... it WILL be an ordeal. these sorta of things always are.

and what will i have to show for it? a pretty good lookin' worthless 20V. i already have about $8k invested, including purchase price, repairs and mods. i bought the car with 114k, now has 119k or so. so, it is fairly low miles.

i suppose just finish it rather than take a bath trying to sell it?

Regards,
Robby

First of all, I can't let "034 stage I ECU - dynoed 233AWHP and 260 torque to the wheels" pass without comment.

That is an *amazing* tune. That means close to 300 crank hp off a stock K24 with stock injectors (you didn't mention
injectors or RS2 turbo in your mod list) on a single coil. Amazing.

And by *amazing*, I mean highly flattering/inflated/BS or asking for reliability  issues.  But hey, if you believe,
and are happy, then who am I to say?

Now to your main issue, the hard starting:

Hard starting implies a fuel pressure issue, i.e. fuel leaking out of the fuel rail, back into the fuel tank. This could
either be the fuel pressure regulator (FPR) or the fuel pump (internal check valve).  IIRC, the 3B FPR is a bolt in:
3B and RR, 20VT, 3.0 Bar nominal, bolt in = PN 034133534M  (more info: http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/21108.phtml)

Since I didn't see any larger turbo or injectors on your mod list, I don't think you need a Bosch Motorsport 044 fuel pump,
which most people find very loud. You are probably due for a new OE 8A0906091G fuel pump. Here is some info about the
091G:

http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/22623.phtml

Here is the most recent Fuel Pump R&R DIY:

Your oil issue might be related to the turbo, the PCV system or the cam cover gasket set.

Here is some PCV system info (written for the AAN but the 3B is mostly similar):

http://forums.quattroworld.com/s4s6/msgs/22506.phtml

The cam cover gasket set is PN 034198025F for all the 20VT engines (3B, AAN, ABY and ADU), item 17 here:

A bit of procedure including adding RTV on the half-moons:

More info about the Engine Bay Devices (at the link below, then click on the hot-link labels):

Hope that helps.  Good luck.
