Thanks for the data Scott. I remember finding similar info when I
discovered what pump was in my 200 20v. I was looking to upgrade my pump to an 044
until I discovered that upgrading from an 040 to an 044 would be kind of
pointless. Lots of CIS injected Audis have the 040 pump standard.

btw I sold the Omni and got another eighties turbo four cyl to play with.

The 044 Fuel Pump is rated at 80GPH (min) with operating pressures of up
to 72psi

The 040 uses an M10 outlet
The 044 uses a M12 outlet

My own thinking is those running with 4bar fuel pressure regulators and
3bar PT ECU programming, would find the *040* fuel pump output stability
better matched to the fuel rail pressures required. For all other 'intents and
purposes' the pumps are considered equal.

thats what I thought. at least I guess it makes for easy drop in of the
044 though since the diameter is the same. (044 is useable in-tank or
external BTW... tons of S cars running around w/ them in-tank... I think
040 is just a different model, like the 050 or the 900's...)
