[s-cars] Smog check in California

Tech didn't know how to smog my '92 S4. He wasn't sure where to get the signal for determining engine speed, and I can't say I paid much attention in the past as nobody's raised this issue with me before.

He tried to get the signal from the battery but the indicated rpm was 5x too high.  I suggested the #1 fuel injector but he couldn't get a reading and wasn't sure what setting to use on the machine.  Anybody know?
