It happens to everyone, Erik.
I loved my 95 S6 Avant. But little things kept breaking. They are great
cars, but eventually they wear out, especially if you are using them as a
daily.
I'm not really able to give you any advice, but the market for these old S
cars, even in good used condition, is limited. I'm not a big fan of buying
new, though. So when I saw my current car for sale, I went ahead and put
down the $7k as it was a smoking deal and I knew that I could get enough ou=
t
of the '95 to cover most of the purchase cost.
Of course, with my location, I have a different issue with roads and
altitude, and the fact that I'm in the ski industry so am always driving
through blizzards. Turbo, quattro and sporty were all a requirement. As was
"wagon" and "manual" That doesn't leave one with many choices. . . .
I miss the old avant, but the S4 truly kicks ass.
Both cars are/were stage ! FWIW.
Good luck with whatever you do. I think you are in a good place. You can
start to look for a car, but have something that's nice to drive right now
so no rush.
