[s-cars] Intermittent stall

Depending on your affinity for internet forums, you may want to pose the question over on the QW (UrS car specific) forums. That said, I never had a complete stall at idle (that I recall) but I had a nasty 'hiccup' where my car would cut off for a split second and then be back running the next while driving. A lister was kind enough to loan me an ECU to swap in and sure enough that cured the issue. What I recall is that the ignition driver chips are failing and the cause. Steve Eiche has the lowdown but unfortunately there isn't a replacement chip out there. If I were you I'd see if you can do the same with a known-good ECU. I did a whole lot of part swapping/replacing, only to find the ECU was the cause.

Hope that helps

Hey folks,

I know I should probably do a lot more searching before I ask, but email
volumes seem low!
I am getting an intermittent stall at idle. It is a clean cutout, and the
engine just goes straight from running smoothly to stalled, instantly.

It seems to do the same thing when running, but with some extra revs on it
catches again and keeps running.

Any ideas where I should look first?

Is it possible I'm losing spark on 3/5 cyls from a dodgy POS?
More likely to be Crank position or something else?

Any advice gratefully received!

Cheers
Duncan
