Hey all,
Much appreciation to Peter for the below suggestion....I now have both rear
windows up and can now figure out the root of the problem. To be honest,
there were some sparks flying at first and I was a bit hesitant to carry on,
for fear of totally screwing something up. But it worked like a charm....
Many thanks also to the following link from Quattroworld, which allowed me
to take a proper look at the wiring involved....it's for the A6, but has
some crossover reference....

Thanks again all....I've learned a lot of great things from this list!

Hey......
If you have a jumper box or charger, you can pull the switches on each rear
door and find the lead that goes to the motor. It will be a positive and
negative wire. Put a nail or something similar in the leads of the battery
charger, pull the lead from the switch and shove the positive and negative
into the female connector to the leads that go to the motor. If it goes
down, reverse the leads. At least you will have them up until you figure out
the issue. Are you positive the wires aren't cracked in the door hinge? If
not, I would suspect the relay which if I remember correctly is a double
located on drivers side kick panel. /peter
