[s-cars] Non-urS content, but still Audi...

I had an allroad before and liked the car, but was not impressed with the
build quality. seemed like a step down from the 200 20v I had before that.
That being said the biggest problem was the tiptronic, so the 6 speed will
be much better from that perspective. As was stated suspension both air and
control arms will fail and are expensive.

Allroads are great cars, I have owned one for 9 years and love it.
But they aren't as owner service friendly as a UrS4.
I recommend making damn sure you know what you are getting into and get used
to having check engine lights.
How many miles are on it, has a turbo ever failed, when was the valve cover
and water pump replaced last?
Start saving now for replacement air springs; they will fail.
What condition are the upper and lower control arms in? Were they replaced?
If they haven't watch out for the
infamous seized pinch bolt for the upper control arm.
I currently have an oil leak and intermittent coolant leak that I'm dealing
with.
The pealing soft touch switches are annoying.
As for the wheel, I would act surprised they had a car on their lot (talk up
the quality of the dealership) with a bent t rim like that.
Act like it's a huge safety issue and you are at that dealership because
you've heard from everyone that they sell safe cars.
Ask them how long it will take for them to replace the rim and ask for the
alignment to be checked.
A well sorted out Allroad is a pleasure to drive, will go through snow
excellent and is a great daily driver.
Good luck
Chris

Hey guys,
I'm about to add a 2004 6-speed manual Allroad to the
driveway (girlfriend's car) and I've got a question....it is
at a dealer (Land Rover) and after beating them up on price
to where it's reasonable, I had a reputable local shop
inspect it for me. Some typical stuff came up, so
that's all good, but they noticed a bend in the left front
wheel, inside. No vibration or anything, but the wheel
is bent. My question is, are they required to
fix/replace the wheel at the agreed upon sales price, or am
I just dreaming? My take on it is regardless of the
type of car dealer they are, they should notice a bent wheel
and disclose it prior to negotiating the deal. I'd
think it would be a safety item.
I already beat them up to the point where they are not going
to budge on price unless they are lawfully required to....
Any thoughts or suggestions? BTW, I'm in Colorado if
it matters....Thanks!
