[s-cars] Coil Substitute?

This was a topic of great debate for some time.

Back in the day 034 swore up and down that these are super special
custom not used anywhere else not a industry standard blah blah blah.
Obviously a blatant lie. But those were in the Sam total-BS'er days...
I suspect now you'd get a better more honest answer out of Laszlo who
has been much more straight-up, but who knows.
Anyway.

They are a Mercury Marine performance coil design, but 034 almost
certainly sourced from a cheap Chinese copy mfr.
AEM started selling them some years back and hence they are available
from some of the usual hotrod joints.
Some other online joints were selling generic clones (prob identical to
the 034 units).
I looked around at Marine-channel options BITD but those were all quite
costly, nothing nearly as cheap as 034 was clearly paying for them.

If you were stupendously lucky the Indy speedshop on Rt 1 might have
them on the shelf, but they'll be closed on Sunday and likely closed
tomorrow too...
And more likely I think you'd find they'd say they could order them and
have them next-day rather than on the shelf.

Marc Swanson (EFIExpress) may have some in stock I don't know - you
could see if he's around this weekend and run up to NH, that'd be my
first try if I were you....
