I removed the caps on my 94 S4 28th a very large pipe wrench by clamping the.strut body in a vise. You'll need to be careful when clamping so that you don't damage the strut body; however there are a number of suitable places to clamp it. You'll probably need a cheater unless you have a huge pipe wrench. I used a 24" pipe wrench but don't remember whether or not I needed a cheater as well.Gary Meier

One correction: do not ever ever try to put out an oil fire with water, ever. I've been told that and I didn't listen. I had a tiny oil fire one time and grabbed a nearby bucket of water. The oil floats on top of the water, thins, and spreads. A half dollar diameter fire turned into a 10ft diameter moving puddle of flame in a heartbeat. Fortunately this was in a relatively controlled environment with very little danger of becoming a bigger problem so I was able to casually find an extinguisher by which time it had mostly gone out anyways. This would be quite a different story had it happened in a garage or under a car.-Cody Forbes (mobile)> On Nov 17, 2015, at 10:28 PM, Joshua Van Tol wrote:> > If the new struts have new cap nuts, why don't you simply cut the old ones> off?
