Thanks for the clarification. I am indeed referring to the item #36 in said diagram (btw, the 12.org link provided didn’t work for me, but I referenced it in your replacement write-up.) Thanks for the how-to link. 

I am running an entirely stock setup, and it has held up well for 200K of mostly highway miles. Now it is in need of some work, so I’m gradually going to replace things as time/budget permits, and figured this would be a good place to start. I’ll replace both sides with part #4A0412377C 

Another question for everyone…..I’d like to replace my front OEM Boge strut inserts with the same thing, as my ride height and handling/performance have been fine for my tastes over the last 145K miles, so I’d rather not mess with success. Can anyone please confirm this part # is what I need? #4A0413031J I’ve found some odd models (100, 200, 5000, V8, A6, etc.) included with other online searches and want to be sure I have the correct part # before I order. Thanks!
