I would be very, very surprised if it was the ECU, unless you've had a water drain problem that has subjected it to a water bath.
I vote for coil wires shorting. Inspect carefully. If you're anywhere close to a fellow lister, a quick swap of the coil pack head followed by the POSs will likely isolate the problem.
