[s-cars] intermittent ABS pulsing through pedal at complete stop

I am not sure what you mean by “yet”, Jim. Is this something you have planned but just did not get around to in the last 15 years of ownership? Surely you own a laptop, so $20 worth of Chinese parts from eBay and free VAG-COM Lite software courtesy of Uwe Ross is not a huge impediment to ownership? If you need to diagnose that ’04 Allroad and impress the GF, you will need a full version. Some work with the Lite version could be good training so you have some idea what you are doing.
But, for this little problem, look over my advice again. Perhaps you can roll the windows down and just listen when you brake to a stop and hear which wheel has the brake caliper pulsing. If not, enlist a helper to listen out the window as you stop or stand to the side in the driveway. The ABS pulse is aggressive enough to be easily detected by young children or your dog.

>> Thanks all for the ideas….I am traveling for the next week or so and won’t get a chance to check all of this out until I return later this month. FWIW, the car is a ’95 and I don’t have a VAG-COM yet, so I’ll just need to do things the old-fashioned way….one connector at a time.

I have been driving my GF’s 2004 Allroad 6MT a bunch for the last month or so while figuring out my steering rack mount woes, and I will say that I just love the feel of the urS6 so much better…. On every level it seems like the better car for my tastes and has convinced me to continue to fix the car to get it back to DD duty….thanks all for the help in making that happen!
