[s-cars] Lead/Acid battery recommendations

Larry,

Here is a blog about battery failures. Despite the name it doesn’t give much information about why they fail in winter. Summer heat and a/c loads are just as demanding, and the batteries perform better in cold conditions.

I suppose you mean conventional batteries with liquid electrolyte rather than a AGM battery, because all batteries suitable for use in your car are lead/acid technology.

Sams Clubs may not be a big thing in NY, but they have a reasonably priced battery suitable for the UrS, type 41 IIRC. Anyway, it has posts in the right place, recessed below the top, and a vent. They didn’t include the positive post cover but that is probably available from the dying battery.

I am not a fan of diehard batteries in general and certainly not for the UrS. IME the stores only have the most expensive international battery for the car at twice the price of the standard line, and the battery quality is far below the marketing hype.

Check out the charging system connections and voltage regulator along with the serpentine belt.
