[s-cars] AC compressor shuts off at 42 degrees F

My 85 A2 GTI OTOH, definitely shutoff AC at 45F (7C). Which was bad since my part of NY State was/is at that temp range for a large part of the year.
Result was frequently having to turn up the heat and cracking a window to keep the windows clear.
I do wonder if the difference was that your Jetta Carat was built in Germany and my Golf based GTI was built in Westmoreland, PA
