[s-cars] Future of this group

Hi All,

I agree with Ti that the email forum is a good format.  It allows
archiving and is great for searching for solutions to issues that may
have been posted about years earlier.  A web forum isn't bad, but is a
lot more resource intensive and requires logging in etc. I'd vote
Facebook last as it's an awful format and difficult to try and search
for very specific things that are more than a few weeks old.

I haven't seen anything from Dan in a long time.  If he's MIA for a
protracted amount of time then we may have to consider moving to a new
format / list.

As a system administrator specializing in communications I would be
willing to volunteer to run a low resource list similar to what we have
now if needed.  Adding attachment support for photos etc is relatively
trivial if that's what folks want.  Adding additional list moderators to
help manage things would also be a possibility.

The only caveat is that I'm in a *very* rural area now and I do tend to
loose Internet connectivity two or three times a year due to trees
falling on the lines, etc.  Typically outages are only a few hours, but
every few years can be a day or two.  To host the server somewhere with
redundant Internet connectivity and service uptime guarantees would
require some expense and some form of fundraising, which I'm not
terribly keen on getting involved with.

Let me know what you think,
-Dave

I like the ability post pictures, and using their Messenger app for private conversations. But Facebook posts “age” quickly, roll off the bottom and disappear. It’s hard to find an old post from just a few days or weeks ago.
