Rick the part numbers are 857-422-388 for the paper element attached to the metal ring 857-422-385 for the sintered wood type ring that must be replaced and 857-422-384 for the screen that can be cleaned and not replaced. please bear in mind all those parts can be purchased at the BumMerW dealer for 1/3 price compared to the Audi Dealer, the application would be a 1983 733 i the BumMerW part #s are in the audifans archives Rick, Regards, Bill PS do not buy the 857-422-384, just clean it with brake clean and a slow spray of compressed air.

Can someone drop a line with the part numbers for these filters,
specifically those for an '83? TIA.

Yes Jason. Replace them filters. Both of them. Just ask Bill. He saw first
hand the damage done to my car by someone else neglecting to change the
filters. I'm still paying for the damage done by bad (or gone) filters. Bill
knows! Right Bill? New front carpets are in the mail coming at me as I type
  this.

Pour it in Jason, even if it says Mercon, just be sure to replace the fiber
filter at the bottom of the reservoir FIRST. shoot dude, drain the system,
replace BOTH filters and refill it with any grade GM compatible atf Dexron
II or III or Mercon. good dawd man. you are getting a 5.8 on the nervous
nelly scale 6.0 is tops Jason. take a deep breath and replace the filters
before your next post ok? golly, Bill

Ok, it goes in the metal canister.

Now... i have no clue as to whats in there right now. Lets assume its
pentosin, will Dexron II mix in just fine??

Also.. what about this Dexron III stuff. It says it "replaces" dexron
II. Is it a go or no go?

    Jason
