[urq] do we need to tire shave?

I just popped a tire, the other 3 have about 12,000
miles on them.  I won't know how much they have worn
till i get the new one in to compare, but i wonder how
much is too much, that I should shave the new one?  I
live in a small town, and haven't found anyone to
shave them!
